Text Files
This archive contains text files that can be displayed by ROS. Files with
the extension "ANS" will be sent to users that have ANSI enabled. Files
with the extension "ASC" will be sent to users that do not have ANSI enabled
or if the corresponding "ANS" file does not exist. Most of these files are
really prototypes so feel free to edit them to your particular preferences.
Since there are hundreds of possible file names for bulletins, no attempt
has been made to include more that a couple of samples. All other display
files that ROS can access are included.
Since MNUSD.ASC can never be displayed, it is not included.
The use of the user and catalog editor templates (TEMPUSER and TEMPCAT) are
not recommended in ASCII mode. Hence, only the "ANS" versions of these
files are included.
Two .MSG files are included as examples of files that you might want to
<L>oad to users. These files may be named anything, hence the extension
"MSG" is not required and is only used for clarity.
Cross Reference
This table cross-references the entries in the SYSMTXT.ROS file as used by
ROS 3.87 to the system message files as used by ROS 4.0. Many of the
entries have changed (some quite a bit); a few are no longer used (the
second column has no name); and several have been added. Note that while
ROS38-40.EXE automatically converts the segments to the appropriate files,
changes in content of these files are not made, i.e. some of these files
will need to be edited/replaced to reflect changes in ROS.
